Gavin

On my doctor appt Friday 8 I was still at a 2 and 70% effaced. So the doctor stripped the membranes. All weekend I thought we would have the little guy. Nope. So I just decided it wasn't happening on its own I would have to wait till I was induced on Friday 15. Which was too bad because I didn't want to go to work at all that week. Monday I went to work which was good because I was BUSY! That night after dinner my water broke. Joel was at work and Orin and I were at home. When people say their water broke I thought it was just a one time break nope it just kept dripping. Lol it was like I was constantly peeing my pants. It was awful! I called my brother and he came picked up us and took me to the hospital where Joel was waiting. Orin stayed at their house. Since my contractions weren't bad I didn't get an epidural right away. We walked around the hospital and then by 11 I hadn't changed so they put me on petocin and gave me an epidural. Joel and I played cards and chatted. I enjoyed the time with Joel it was like a date lol. So the baby didn't like the contractions every time I had one his heartbeat dropped. So they put me on oxygen and took me off petocin. Then back on petocin and two hours later I had them check and I was at a 6 at 3 am. I told them I would like to have him at 3 and the nurses said its possible but not likely. At 345 i was at 10 and ready to push. He was born at 3:57 am. Gavin Allen Ricks 7 lbs 5 oz 19.5 in. This labor was 10 times easier than my first and it shows because the recovery has been a lot easier except that I have a cold/ cough. Here are some pictures of our cute boy.

Toy Box

Joel finished the toy box that Grandpa Ricks and him made for Orin. They started it before Christmas but Joel has been working lots of weekends and hasn't had time to finish it. It is quite big and Orin loves it! Here are some pictures.

36 weeks

I am now 36 weeks and just three weeks left. we are so excited! I had a doctors appointment and everything was good. I am dilated to one plus so far --I wish it was a four. If we don't have the baby before the 15th they will induce me that day.

Just an update- this time my legs haven't been swelling besides when we drove to Idaho for Christmas. When I was pregnant with Orin they were swelling at 30 weeks but the weather is different and that probably helps a lot. I used to wear Joel's shoes cuz mine didn't fit it was hilarious since he wears an 11.

As labor gets closer I realize how scared I am for it to be like my labor with Orin. My contractions were 3 min apart for 30 hours. I remember cuz I left work on Thursday at one cuz they were so close and then I had him Friday night at 7:46 pm. That thing was way too long and the epidural didn't work and the nurse wouldn't believe me. So I felt everything until I got a new nurse 3 hours before I had him and got another epidural. Then they put me on oxygen cuz his heartbeat dropped significantly and they almost did an emergency c section but decided to break my water and had him hour later. I pushed for 20 min and the nurses were so impressed that I did it so fast. Lol how could I not I had been having contractions since the day before I was ready to be done. As long as that is not repeated I think I will be ok.

I have definitely been in nesting mode for the past couple weeks a lot more than I ever remember being last time. This time is a lot different since now I have to worry about what I'm going to do with Orin if I go into labor on my own. I am just hoping if I do go into labor before the 15 that it will be a day my brother and his wife can watch him. They have 3 boys and Orin loves going to their house. He looks up to the boys and likes to play with them.

Joel is excited to have the baby too. he is sick of rubbing my back all the time. He is such a good dad. He has been working lots of overtime to save us money when i am on leave since my pay is deducted to 66% it's great to have him work so much for the money but we miss him lots!!

We are excited to meet Gavin and see what he will look like. He is very active in the belly and we have an ultrasound of him sucking his thumb. That is opposite of Orin. Orin moved very little. Gavin is always moving. So it will be interesting to see what he is like.

Orin seems like he is sensing that change is coming soon. He slept in his twin bed the other night. He did really well. I was impressed. the second night was not so good he ended up in his crib. Third night was like the first. So hopefully he can keep it up.

Here are some pictures of our cute little Orin.

He helped me get out the playpen and he loves to play in it.

Orin loves cars and here he is playing with some of his cars. Everyday I get hours of playing with cars in. It is pretty fun! He has like 8 that he is always carrying around the house.

My sneaky little boy. He is trying to sneak some animal crackers and I caught him.

Changing table

When we had Orin we didn't have the money for a changing table so my craft table became his changing table. Now with the new baby still no money to buy a changing table but I wanted a table in each boys room so if one was asleep I wouldn't have to change them on the ground or bed cuz I learned with Orin when you change him on the bed is the one time he happens to have an accident.

So I decided that we were going to improvise and I was not losing my craft table again. We had this foosball table that we never used and it was left in our house by the previous owners. So we turned it into the changing table. Here are the pictures. Under the curtain on the bottom will be a shelf Joel is going to make. When he has time.

This weekend I was thinking wow in a month and a half I am going to have a baby. I have to get this project started. I started it this weekend and finished the cover today. I still have lots to do to prepare for this baby. I just hope I get it all done in time.
