Growth Spurt

Orin got a growth spurt this past week a couple weeks ago he could only turn off the lights because he wasn't tall enough. This week he can turn them on. We haven't measured him but his next appointment is on next Friday. It's crazy to think my boy is going to be two years old already. He sure does act like a two-year-old.

Gavin's Blessing

We blessed Gavin on May 5.  Here is the picture of our little family. 

We had a lot of friends and family come visit and share this special experience with us. Here is a picture of Gavin and me. He is so cute with his little suit and he is such a happy baby. 

While everyone was at our house after church Gavin slept the whole time. This picture is after everyone had left. 

Here is another of the cute little guy. I wish I could have got a picture of Orin with his new tie. He looked so adorable! 

Thanks family and friends for coming and supporting us! It was great to see all of you. We enjoyed the cinco de mayo party! 

Baby Pictures

So I look at Gavin and think he looks a lot like Orin did who looked a lot like Joel. So here are pictures of all three of them.  After adding their pictures I decided I should see what I looked like then too. I don't have very many pictures of me when I was that young.  So here we are in order Orin, Joel, Gavin, and me.

1 month and 22 months

Gavin is 1 month and Orin will be 22 months this month. I can't believe I have 2 boys. This past month has been good and difficult all at once. I am grateful for all the help I have had. My mom and Joel's mom came and helped out. It was good because it took Orin a while to be used to having Gavin around. He now is really used to having him and does really well except bedtime now is a struggle because of daylight savings. I hate daylight savings. I never used to care but now we have kids it screws up our schedule.

So an update on the boys

Gavin. Loves the mobile and stays awake a lot during the day. He loves to be held during the day and sleeps well at night in his cradle. Still eats every 3 hours. He doesn't mind sharing with Orin most the time. Bath time is a hit and miss he likes it one day and the next time it's torture. He hates the carseat. He is growing- his newborn clothes are starting to get small and now wears the 0-3 months.

Orin. Loves his cars and trucks and trains. My brother gave us their boys train set. It is awesome!! It's Thomas and has a table and lots of trains to play with. He loves to go for walks and we got a new jogging stroller so he can join me for our 5k races. He loves it! He loves Gavin and calls him baby or brother. He likes to play with Gavin's toys. He is getting some molars I can feel in the back of his mouth. He is always biting me. :( he is growing so much his 2t shirts are getting short and pants are just right for now. He loves to color, run, build blocks, books, help clean house and run errands with dad.

An update about Joel- He is amazing! He fixed our water pressure. Joel and his friend Jake took out the pipe connecting our water softener to the main valve and fixed it. Now we have some sweet water pressure. So when someone flushes while I am in the shower I can't even tell.

Gavin got a new toy an activity blanket but I think Orin likes it more than him.

On my doctor appt Friday 8 I was still at a 2 and 70% effaced. So the doctor stripped the membranes. All weekend I thought we would have the little guy. Nope. So I just decided it wasn't happening on its own I would have to wait till I was induced on Friday 15. Which was too bad because I didn't want to go to work at all that week. Monday I went to work which was good because I was BUSY! That night after dinner my water broke. Joel was at work and Orin and I were at home. When people say their water broke I thought it was just a one time break nope it just kept dripping. Lol it was like I was constantly peeing my pants. It was awful! I called my brother and he came picked up us and took me to the hospital where Joel was waiting. Orin stayed at their house. Since my contractions weren't bad I didn't get an epidural right away. We walked around the hospital and then by 11 I hadn't changed so they put me on petocin and gave me an epidural. Joel and I played cards and chatted. I enjoyed the time with Joel it was like a date lol. So the baby didn't like the contractions every time I had one his heartbeat dropped. So they put me on oxygen and took me off petocin. Then back on petocin and two hours later I had them check and I was at a 6 at 3 am. I told them I would like to have him at 3 and the nurses said its possible but not likely. At 345 i was at 10 and ready to push. He was born at 3:57 am. Gavin Allen Ricks 7 lbs 5 oz 19.5 in. This labor was 10 times easier than my first and it shows because the recovery has been a lot easier except that I have a cold/ cough. Here are some pictures of our cute boy.

Gavin with his hair hard to see because it is blonde but it is pretty long on top. He can get a pretty sweet mohawk going on.
